June 2015: The Eighth Wonder of the World
Martin recently directed The Eighth Wonder of the World, a new play written by Nick Harrison. This is a new site-specific piece about Isambard Kingdom Brunel which was performed in the actual Brunel tunnel under the Thames!
The Eighth Wonder of the World is set on the eve of the extraordinary night in November 1827, when a huge, glittering party was held in the tunnel by Marc Brunel and his son, Isambard.
Audiences were invited to descend into the extraordinary, secret chamber deep beneath the river and see first hand this astounding feat of engineering whilst witnessing what it REALLY cost these two men to create it.
There were 10 sold out performances between 8th – 14th June 2015.
